2025 City of Dubuque Parks and Recreation Community Survey

Dear Resident,
Your input is more important than ever. Today we are inviting you to help us by answering the following parks and recreation needs assessment survey. The result of the survey will be used in the development of a long-range comprehensive parks and recreation master plan called “Y(O)ur Story”. The results of this City of Dubuque Parks and Recreation Department survey will be used to define opportunities, challenges, recommendations, and establish priorities for improvements to parks and recreation system for the next 10 years and beyond.

The time you invest in completing this survey will help us take a resident-driven approach to making decisions about the future of the city's parks and recreation facilities, programs, and services. Your response will remain confidential and is treated anonymously. We anticipate this survey to take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete; however, each question is extremely valuable. ETC Institute, an independent consulting company, is administering this survey. They will compile the data received and present the results to the city staff, Parks and Recreation Commission, and the City Council.

The department oversees over 1,200 acres of parkland, 30 miles of trails, and over 300 facilities. This includes outdoor recreational areas such as Eagle Point Park, the Bee Branch Creek Greenway, Miller Riverview Park and Campground, the Port of Dubuque Marina, and Bergfeld Pond, as well as small neighborhood parks, the pet park, skate parks, the outdoor ice rink, and park and pavilion rentals. The department is responsible for year-round youth and adult recreation programming, adult athletics, after-school sports, before- and after-school care, the Miracle League of Dubuque and special population programs, Bunker Hill Golf Course, Flora and Sutton swimming pools, and more. Five Flags Civic Center, Grand River Center, ImOn Arena, and E.B. Lyons Nature Center are also managed by Dubuque Parks and Recreation.

Your response is vital to the success of the comprehensive parks and recreation planning effort. We greatly value your time and feedback. If you have any questions, please visit the project website at YOurStoryDubuque.com or contact the City of Dubuque Parks and Recreation Department at 563-589-4263.
